BREACH - UNREAL ENGINE 4 MISSION

Humans have lost Earth. Creatures invaded and forced humanity to flee in a colony ship and abandon its planet. Many years later, the remaining humans want to take back the Earth. A human soldier embarks on a mission to scout for any potential area to serve as their base. While doing so, he is attacked and crashes into a mountain top. He will need to clear the area and contact the colony ship with the help of a radio tower. 

DESCRIPTION:

  • Single player mission made in Unreal Engine 4.

  • First-person shooter gameplay.

  • Inspired by games such as Destiny, Doom, Outriders, Halo.

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Solo Project

  • Use blueprints to control the mission's progress.

  • Short mission: 2 minutes walkthrough 

  • Production time allowed: 4 weeks

  • Development completed in: around 40 hrs

CHALLENGES:

  • Learning more about blueprints by trying to transfer my C# skills into it

  • Make a map of a different game genre (action-adventure FPS single player game).

 

DESIGN INTENTIONS:

  • Providing a clear landmark at the very start of the level (radio tower).

  • Showing that same landmark later on in the level at an intersection to let the player easily differentiate the golden path from the optional route.

  • Offering combat encounters with an evolving difficulty by increasing the enemy count and mixing enemy types to keep the challenge interesting.

  • Creating an optional side path offering a greater challenge and reward.
